It is not necesary to ask members to do something different than making a monthly post, then we write a script which checks members who have not made a post during last month.  In that way neither Efil nor admins spend too much time checking who is the bad child, just ask a script about it.

I like Rebeca's idea about packages, I will review them better in order to contribute to it.

I remember getting a notification each month requesting that you're "present", which I don't mind at all.  However, if on vacation, spending much time with family during summer season only to find out a month later my account was deleted... I to might be inclined to make an attempt to come back in here.  I'd say maybe the 2nd month the account could be deleted after sending something like a warning via email contact that's on record.

3. What other things can our members contribute besides posting?

Server Monitoring
This includes checking whether our server can be accessed in the world wide web, if our IP address is black listed, or if our member's websites are not breaking our community rules.

Server Administration
This includes creating accounts for other members, tweaking our server configurations, or managing our support tickets in our data center.

Community Administration
This includes forum moderation, forum administration, or forum members assistance.

I agree with Orjan regarding the deletion of accounts. I understand deleting accounts for people who we ask to leave because they have not followed the rules or because we know we don't want them in the community. In addition to that, it also seems reasonable for us to delete accounts with 0 posts (after 1 month of their creation). In all other cases, I do agree that having to go through the registration process again isn't practical and might be detrimental to how much people we can attract to the community.

Thanks for the input. I have long stopped deleting members who haven't logged in for more than a month. However, in order to reduce "spies" in our community we still need to delete members who, exactly as what you said, have 0 posts. However, I still have to decide whether how long an account can be tolerated with 0 number of post.

Water Seven Goals
The gist is exactly as what you have mentioned - good hosting and good community. I'll try to elaborate on that on my next postings.

Hosting Packages
Since we already have a pointing system, The Pearl System, which we can use to rate the contributions of our community members, I decided that we maintain our packages into two. One being the default "member package" and the other is the "active founder package." We will then offer package option deals such as shell access, email accounts, multiple accounts, etc., which the members can purchase through their earned Pearls. The pricing will be determined later.

Community Rules and Requirements
The requirements right now is the simple registration questions that we have on the registration page. And since we don't have any problem right now with regards to the attitudes of members who successfully pass this registration process, I also think that there's no need to review it again right now. However, once we encounter more "spammer" members again, then we may need to raise the thresholds once again.

Homepage Revision
The index page has a simpler content right now and I think it will only need minimal amendments in the future. We can request for a suggested design from our members in the collaboration and contribution page, and then finalize our front page design.

Forum Revision
As what Orjan has requested, I have significantly reformed our forum organization, and we are now ready to take more steps ahead.

Water Seven Advertisement
The social networking system you have proposed such as twitter, facebook, and get satisfaction account are important advertisement tools for us because it is the real voice of our users. Therefore, I suggest that we also concentrate on completing the functionality of these social network accounts.

Team Member Roles and Duties
Many of our members are not active as before right now, we have to review whether to continue with separating our members into teams again.

What to do next?

I like the way we're heading with this now, Efil. The goals are just perfect, and the hosting packages seems like a good idea. It forces members to be active, but what they get in return is really good.

The rules are good, and I like the homepage aswell. The only thing I miss there is a clear link to the forums. And the forum, I really like the organizing now. I also agree on the advertising.

And about the teams, I think it could be a good idea. We'll see how active it gets without, but it did work when we had it.

That all sounds good, Efil. I'm somewhat busy over here, but I'll try to help out with our homepage... unless someone carries out what I have in mind before I get to do so (since I will be busy). I agree with Orjan's input, and I was also thinking we'd need to add links to our twitter, getsatisfaction, and facebook accounts in the homepage or maybe even work on a way on doing a bit more integration.

Thanks, Orjan and Rebeca for the nice inputs. I made light polishing of the index contents today. I also added the Overview and Mission statement that Rebeca included in our facebook fan page info.

I'm trying to organize our social networks pages for GetSatisfaction, Twitter and FaceBook. When we are done with it, we can include its plugins in our index page and provide explicit links e.g. "Forums," "FaceBook," "GetSatisfaction," and "Twitter." If the blog will make it soon enough, we can also add a "Blog" link in our index page.
